On 4th March, 1915, the 3rd Middlesex battalion of 85 Brigade, 28th Division moved into the front line near St. Eloi, to the south of Ypres where they remained for two days. On 5th March, the day on which Oscar Brubach was killed, their trenches came under a considerable amount of shell fire. |
